Cimarron Trailers grew out the vision of two men who wanted to build the best aluminum trailer in the industry. In 2000, Ronald Jackson and Michael Terry started Cimarron Trailers ® in Chickasha, Oklahoma, in order to expand the CM line of trailers into the aluminum trailer market
Start Up
From the beginning Jackson and Terry knew that skilled employees would be the key element for success. The Cimarron plant facility is located in the proximity of the largest concentration of these potential workers and it includes 65,000 square feet of manufacturing space on 17 acres of land. The Chickasha location offers close proximity to supply lines of raw materials and is centrally located for distribution of trailers throughout the US and Canada.
Although the first trailer rolled out the door on May 2, 2000, Cimarron knew its future depended on designing a trailer that would set it apart from the competition and could be custom built on an assembly line. Every spare moment was devoted to the creation of the Norstar design. Twenty-eight custom aluminum extrusions had to be designed and approved. Every aspect of the trailer design was questioned and assessed in order to bring a truly fresh new product to the market place. The Norstar design was not only a great value to the customer but it incorporated new design features that simplified manufacturing as well. On September 15, 2000 the first Norstar trailer was completed.
Reaching the Market
The Norstar was unveiled at the 2000 World Quarter Horse Show to overwhelming customer approval. By Cimarron’s sixth anniversary there were over five thousand on the road. Their desire and ability to custom manufacture trailers for both quality and price conscious buyers, has allowed them to quickly establish and maintain a wide customer base.
Ownership Change
In 2004 Michael and Lynn Terry became the sole owners of Cimarron Trailers ®, buying out their partners Ronald and Kay Jackson. As of this change in ownership, Cimarron Trailers is no longer a division of CM Trailers. It is a independent trailer manufacturer. The Terry’s have run the daily operations of the manufacturing facility since it opened in 2000.

This network not only includes dealers and personnel at the manufacturing plant, but it also includes customers. One of the reasons they build highly customizable trailers is that one customer’s innovation can become the new standard in the industry. Owner Michael Terry says that they are in the people business.
